Sociocracy Courses from The Sociocracy Consulting Group

The Sociocracy Consulting Group will be starting two online courses at the beginning of October: Foundations of Sociocracy and Facilitating Sociocracy. Go to http://sociocracyconsulting.com and click on “Events” for the course descriptions and registration. The Foundations course or equivalent is a prerequisite to the Facilitation course. These classes meet for six sessions, each session 2 1/2 hours in length, in a video conference with breakout rooms. The courses are hands-on and interactive, and from the convenience of your own home or office.
People have taken these classes from multiple continents, and found them very useful. Here is what one student said about the Facilitation course:

“This course has given me much deeper appreciation for sociocratic facilitation.  Each week offered a step-by-step grounding in the circle meeting process.  My ability to successfully navigate a meeting has grown significantly, and our community’s meetings are much more productive now. It was great to have a small class with such skilled, experienced, and responsive instructors. I received a lot of help and suggestions specific to my real-world responsibilities. This is the first time in an online class that I felt so engaged, learned so much, and received so much value and personal attention. I highly recommend this class for anyone who wants to improve their understanding, experience, skills, and enjoyment of sociocratic facilitation.”

Sociocracy Leadership Training (SoLT)

Sociocracy For All launched its latest project yesterday, Sociocracy Leadership Training (SoLT) See the 2 min video explanation, and more info on the  SoLT webpage in the sociocracyforall.org website.
It is a 12-week sociocracy immersion learning program, done remotely and  by doing sociocracy in a pop-up organization that we are setting up for people. Anyone anywhere in the world who can make the commitment and speaks English can apply. This is an innovative way of teaching governance, and I hope we can spread learning quickly and effectively. We noticed that we can talk and talk about sociocracy and people are convinced that sociocracy sounds good, but they don’t understand it until they actually make decisions by consent. We want to give people that experience. SoLT is the best way we can think of to give affordable, practical access to this experience to people, and through the SoLT project they can even contribute to the spread of sociocracy
Other learning opportunities will take place in person. Jerry Koch Gonzalez will be teaching 2 (identical) full-day workshops in Brooklyn in September 17 and 18, and a shorter introduction in Providence RI on September 26. More information: http://www.sociocracyforall.org/workshops/
Meanwhile SoFA is posting recent webinar recordings such as a sociocracy introduction for the Vermont Employee Ownership Center and one on facilitation decision making. These and other videos and printable resources are available here for free: http://www.sociocracyforall.org/resources/

Sociocracy For All (SoFA) was created to help organizations who cannot afford to hire consultants on their own. Sociocracy For All helps these organizations get the help they need to learn and implement Sociocracy.

Sociocracy For All raises funds to support the development of educational materials that can be freely distributed and to subsidize the cost of consultants. Organizations that can pay the full cost of implementing Sociocracy are referred to The Sociocracy Consulting Group (TSCG, of which Jerry Koch-Gonzalez is the CEO).  Sociocracy For All is a project sponsored by the Institute for Peaceable Communities, a tax exempt 501c3 nonprofit organization.
